Organization must be a 501(c)(3) social service agency and serve citizens of Greenville County.
Funds requested must be for a specific program at an already established time and date.
Funding priority will be given to training that will enhance the internal stability of the receiving organizations.
Grants will be considered for both in-house training and outside seminars.
Report on program must be provided within 30 days of conclusion of training, copies of materials (within copyright) must be made available for Walter Johnson Trust Resource Library.
An agency can apply for a Walter Johnson Trust Grant one time per year.
Funds are for staff training.
Funds are available for non-sectarian agencies only.
The Community Foundation's Walter Johnson Trust grant applications are considered through a competitive proposal process. Each grant application is assigned to a Special Grants Review Committee member for initial review. The Grants Review Committee then makes its recommendation to the Foundation’s Board of Directors, which has the final authority for approval or denial. The application deadlines for 2008 are MARCH 31, JUNE 30, SEPTEMBER 30, and DECEMBER 31. All applications must be at the Foundation office by 4:00pm on the deadline date.
Please address the following areas using no more than two pages. Grant applicant may provide additional support material as deemed necessary.
- State agency mission, year founded and background
- State how training will be used to strengthen your organization
- Provide the name or names of individuals attending and brief description of their role in your organization
- Overview the program with information about the training or seminar, including site of training, phone number and address of provider
- Furnish a budget with travel and training/seminar costs itemized separately
- Current audited financial statements including operating budget
- Organization’s IRS tax exempt letter
- List of current Board of Directors
